Making Marriage Work

When it comes to marriage you can find many people with various ideas of how to have a good marriage. It seems that although there are many different views of marriage, the common goal is to find ways in making marriage work for the long term.

The basics of making marriage works involves finding the person you truly love. Yes, attraction is very important in a relationship but so is friendship. So many times people marry simply because they are physically attracted to the other person yet, they have nothing in common.

Striving to have a friendship is important in any relationship and very important in a marriage. Making a marriage work is hard work. Every day you see the same person, you talk to the same person, and for some this same ole routine causes them to burn out. It is important in order to making a marriage work that you have open and honest communication.

Communication, to me, is the main key to making marriage work. Being honest is hard and as time goes by we seem to "lie" or with hold things to keep from hurting our mate, however that isn’t good. We need to be honest and never with hold anything, no matter how small or large the situation is. And yes, there may come times when you become unhappy and you need to tell your mate in order to come to an understanding of what needs to be done in order to make the marriage work.

Finally, stay involved with each other. Through out your marriage you as well as your marriage will take on many roles and forms and you need to be involved with each other to keep that "spark" and need for each other alive. Making marriage work is simple: be friends, communicate and stay involved with each other. Things will be tough but talk it out and you can have a long and happy marriage!
